In 2006, Rumanian telecommunications-provider Atlas Telecom launched the development of a DECT-based data network – a technology which is mainly applied in cordless phones.
The signal is area-wide transmitted from transmission boxes located in high masts placed in a grid. In form and substance, these boxes are designed to reflect the robustness of the construction. The boxes are made bulletproof as well as waterproof in order to protect them from vandalism.
A USB dongle functions as receiver for the PC. The requirements of this project meant that we carefully had to consider the following issues: an independent product language, a high haptic quality by minimal dimensioning, and cost-efficient production. A holder with an integrated USB extension cable can for example be placed on a window by means of a suction cup. This option of flexible placement guarantees a better quality of reception.
